Connecticut Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Alleges Wrong Rib Removed

Lawsuit against Yale-New Haven claims surgeon removed wrong rib, then lied

NEW HAVEN >> A Milford woman is suing two Yale-New Haven Hospital surgeons, the hospital and Yale Medical School, claiming a resident doctor removed the wrong rib and then lied about it in order to conduct a second surgery.

Deborah Craven, 60, contends that Dr. Ricardo Quarrie, a trainee and fellow in thoracic surgery, removed her seventh left rib instead of the eighth, on which there was a cancerous lesion, despite the affected rib being marked by metallic coils being placed in the rib and a dye injected into the skin.
